Chinese New Year Race Meeting
Chinese New Year is the most important traditional festival of the year in the city.
This race meeting, usually held on the third day of the Chinese New Year, has always been Hong Kong's most popular horse racing event of all. On this unique race day, the Club will feature a full programme of traditional and colourful festivities on-course, including a grand opening show, the traditional lion dance, a variety of cultural and entertainment performances, and jockeys greeting fans with good luck messages. The Chinese New Year Merchandise Bazaar offers a selection of limited edition items to mark the festival. The featured race of the day is the Chinese New Year Cup.
The Chinese New Year Race Day is not just an event for local residents to celebrate the Lunar New Year and share the festive mood. It also showcases Hong Kong's appeal to visitors in the areas of sports, entertainment and mega events.
